Matthew Fairfax

Matthew Fairfax is President/CEO of Northern Torch Consulting and James Alan Salon & Spa. For over 30 years, Matthew Fairfax has been involved with all aspects of Human Resources and business development. As the former Director of Human Resources for Washington Dental Service (now Delta Dental Washington), a multi-million-dollar oral health organization, he managed all areas of Human Resources, including compensation, benefits administration, organizational development, labor relations, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), group facilitation, and training.

A graduate of the University of Washington’s Executive Development Program and the UCLA Executive Salon Management Program, Matthew has combined and applied his Human Resources skills and his business acumen to the salon industry. Matthew has now turned his attention to teaching cosmetology skills to traffic survivors and other at-risk youth. He currently oversees Northern Torch Consulting, Kate Korpi Salon and Academy in Cambodia, the Justice and Soul Foundation in Seattle, and the James Alan Salon & Spa team.

Matthew provides public speaking, consulting and training in Human Resources, small business and team development, emotional intelligence and leadership skills. He has also trained and facilitated in communication styles, financial planning/management, conflict resolution, and interest-based bargaining.

He is the current Chair of the Justice and Soul Foundation, former Chair for the Dale Turner Family YMCA and the Center for Human Services, a multi-service agency providing support to families and youth.
